Thank you! I would have termed Music Man, etc. "modern" along with all forms dating at least to 1900 or so. The visual presentation of most musical theater really hasn't changed that much since its development (opera and prior): Make the biggest, boldest, most sweeping spectacle you can manage! I think what it comes down to more is that I hold a special place in my heart for the musicals that we performed when I was a teenager in High School. The only things that I can actively recall hearing his music in are The Truman Show and The Illusionist, which are two movies I truly enjoyed.

I have yet to see the comarison between the two (Repo! and Romeo and Juliet) But being in sense I did enjoy both I dont see how it is a negitive. However I do argue that the vocalization was wonderful. Anthony Head is spectacular. All of the actors brought there own to it, and it was magnificent. I also see how it would be disapointing to someone expecting an classical opera. But it was refered to in advertisement as a rock opera. And in being similar to RHPS in that respect, fully understand why you would not like it. However cannot fathom why you would try to watch it if you not liking RHPS was indeed the case.
Now onto the Shrecks, We would love to get together with and do Repo costumes with you. As far as audiance participation, I don't think you could although it would be interesting to try. The music in the movie is far to more emotional in that respect. Where as RHPS is more satirical, and comedy. Albeit there are parts of comedy. We will have to plan this in further detail.
Also on the note of the gore factor, and needing more on the Repo aspect. I am personally glad that they went with the amount they did. Anymore and it would have turned the movie into a variation of Saw and would have totally detracted from the musical.

But it was refered to in advertisement as a rock opera. And in being similar to RHPS in that respect, fully understand why you would not like it. To quote Mrs. Shreck: "Rocky Horror is not an opera." Just sayin'. As to why I watched it? Because I was trying to keep an open mind about a genre of film that I hadn't cared for in the past. After all, if we only stick to what we know we like, we'd never learn anything new.

Kenneth and I absolutely loved it. I would compare it more to Moulin Rouge. For me it had an avante garde feel and the comic book segments made me very ;D I will probably be watching this weekly for awhile!

I really loved the comic book convention. Used very well, I thought. I'm glad someone else enjoyed it.

I adored this movie! For those of you who are going to be creating Repo costumes I am really looking forward to seeing what y'all put together!

Because I'm sure you all were on the edge of your seat waiting for my opinion on Repo, here it is. It was "meh". I know, you all will crucify me (heck even Kash will, he loved it). I expected more depth and more "avant garde" than the over-the-top teen angsty gothness that it was more about. I will say I had fun watching it, I loved the costumes but the movie lacked depth I thought. That will not prevent me from trying to put together a Blind Mag costume - love her!!! And we enjoyed Paris Hilton, it got a few of my girly girl friends to sit through the first half of the movie before they left or started squirming....chicks, I don't understand them.
